Elaboration is the process of giving new material meaning by expressing it in your own words and connecting it to what you already know.

Elaboration turns facts into knowledge by tying them into existing schemas, raising the ceiling on how much you can retain and apply.
How to apply it
- After reading a passage, explain it to yourself in plain language.
