Bias-to-Action Sprint

Designing Your LifeProcrastinators · Procrastination Emergency · 90-Min SprintEasy

for the one who keeps thinking about a life instead of trying one on

Goal

Pick the smallest real-world version of a life you're imagining and run it within an hour.

Source principle

You can't think your way into a life; build forward through small real-world tries. : from Designing Your Life by Bill Burnett & Dave Evans.

The plan

  1. 🗣️
    0:00-0:05
Name the life you've been overthinking. One sentence.
  2. 🔬
    0:05-0:10
Pick the smallest real-world version of it. Tiny. Today-sized.
  3. ⏲️
    0:10-0:15
Set a 60-min timer. No research allowed. Just doing.
  4. ✍️
    0:15-0:20
Write the first 5-min move. The literal first physical action.
  5. 🚀
    0:20-1:20
Run that version. Build, call, show up, whatever 'doing' means here.
  6. 📓
    1:20-1:25
Log what surprised you. Especially what was different from imagined.
  7. 🤔
    1:25-1:28
Decide: keep, drop, or iterate. One word.
  8. 📅
    1:28-1:30
Schedule the next slightly bigger version. Calendar it.

Reward

One real-world data point. That's the prize.
