for the ones who keep losing marks the same way
Goal
Autopsy your last three past papers to find and target the single failure mode costing the most marks.
Source principle
Reflection combined with calibration: examining wrong answers across tests reveals recurring failure patterns that broad re-study never surfaces. : from Make It Stick by Brown, Roediger & McDaniel.
The plan
- ๐0:00-0:05Pull the last 3 past papers you've taken. Just the wrong answers.
- ๐0:05-0:15List every wrong item on a fresh page. Don't fix anything yet.
- ๐ท๏ธ0:15-0:30Tag each: 'memory gap', 'method wrong', 'misread', 'ran out of time'.
- ๐ข0:30-0:45Cluster the tags. Which category has the most items?
- ๐ฏ0:45-0:55Pick the biggest cluster. That's your primary failure mode.
- ๐ก0:55-1:10For each item in that cluster: write what cue should have told you the right method.
- ๐ง1:10-1:20Write one drill that would have prevented each. Targeted, not broad.
- ๐
1:20-1:25Schedule ONE drill into tomorrow's plan. Just one.
- โ
1:25-1:30Close. Note: 'Next exam I'll watch for [primary failure mode] first.'
