The problem this solves
“I want to know what's actually broken in how I study, not more advice.”
Primary keyword: study routine audit
What you'll learn
- The five-axis routine audit
- Fill in a one-page diagnostic
- Read the result like a doctor, not a judge
- Choose the first 1% change to make
The science behind it: Metacognition
Metacognition is the awareness of and control over your own learning: knowing what you know, knowing what you do not know, and planning accordingly.
Why it matters
Without metacognition, learners persist with strategies that feel productive but actually fail to produce durable learning.
How to apply it
- Keep a learning journal: what did you do, what worked, what did not.
- Before each study session, set one observable goal and a plan to test yourself.
- After each session, ask what you still cannot do that you will need next time.
Common mistakes
- Treating confidence as a proxy for competence.
- Avoiding self-tests because they surface uncomfortable gaps.
- Planning in detail but never reviewing what actually happened.
