Focus Anchor Morning

UltralearningAdult Learners · Morning · Morning BlockMedium

for the adult learner whose mornings drift into low-value busywork

Goal

Build a morning anchor block that lands in the highest-value rep within 60 minutes.

Source principle

Focus: anchor attention to one high-value task before any low-value work. : from Ultralearning by Scott Young.

The plan

  1. 🪶
    6:00-6:05 AM
Set up: water, clear desk, kill notifications.
  2. 🎯
    6:05-6:10 AM
Name the single highest-value task. One sentence.
  3. ✂️
    6:10-6:15 AM
Cut everything else off today's list. Be ruthless.
  4. 📝
    6:15-6:25 AM
10-min warm-up: easy version of the task. Just start.
  5. 🚀
    6:25-6:55 AM
30-min deep block on the real task. Hard gear.
  6. 6:55-7:05 AM
10-min rest. Walk, water, no phone.
  7. 🚀
    7:05-7:35 AM
30-min deep block. Same task. Push the hard part.
  8. 👁️
    7:35-7:40 AM
5-min distraction log. Write what pulled you.
  9. 📊
    7:40-7:45 AM
5-min attention check. Score 0–10. Honest.
  10. ✍️
    7:45-7:50 AM
One-line note: 'The deep work I shipped was ___.'
  11. 🧹
    7:50-8:00 AM
Close tabs. Set up tomorrow's anchor task.
